AB Elwia was founded in Stockholm in 1968 and devoted itself to electronics manufacturing. The largest client back then was the Swedish Armed Forces.
In the mid-70s, Elwia grew and moved to the old light bulb manufacturing plant in Nyköping, right next to Nyköping Castle. In 1988, Elwia was acquired by the Houbaer family, who still owns the company.
Elwia has in the meantime developed into an industrial sales company and many of its customers are leading industries in their areas. Since 1994, Elwia is located in Lidingö outside Stockholm, where sales, stock and certain customer applications take place.
Elwia is a reseller of Curtiss-Wright Industrial Group and Penny & Giles Controls Ltd. and responsible for the markets in Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The wide range of products includes joysticks, sensors and solenoids (formerly Mechatronics) for use on commercial vehicles and industrial equipment. The growing automation contributes to constant demand for new products. The most popular products are often in stock and deliveries can usually be made the same day.
